By popular, relentless and incessant demand I have started painting the frame. 


I have a few drips I have to fix.  Please understand that I started on the other side,  by the time I got to this side I was getting dizzy from the paint fumes.   A couple brain cells more gone for good.   At this rate it won't be long until I'm ready for spoon feeding and sponge baths. 

The wheels are now done.  Looks good.



The JB Weld has cured and those wholes are nicely plugged.  The top of the fender now needs a little body filler to smooth is out.  The underneath is perfect.



The stator cover is back on.

On this note I'd like to thank Toby at Kanata Honda for helping me with my long list of gaskets and small parts I needed to order.  He was very helpful and gave a fellow parts guy a nice discount.  Thanks Toby.

My "brake system in a box" arrived this week.  A full system ready to go.


That's a lie.  What did come in was a used master assembly.  The original one was a mess.  The resevoir was old and cracked, the lever was broken and the whole thing was covered in silicone. 

Mr. Double J tested the thing and once it was together bleed the system with a compressed air suction thing that kind of reminded me of an old flame,  man she could    ...    sorry,  I tend to drift sometimes.  Damn fumes. 

Now I just need a bike to put it on.

Comstar rims

I have the tank back from Capital Dominion Radiator and they worked on it for a couple weeks.   They steamed it, ran some ball bearings in it, did some more stuff then re-lined it.  They told me to run an inline fuel filter and change if after every tank for 5 tankful of so.  I looked at it with an inspection mirror and from what I can tell it looks good.


The front end was disassembled.  I needed the front wheel to get the tire off. 


That's them on my mess of a tool cart. 

The wheels where taken to work so that Mr. Double J could get the tires off so that I can refinish them.   It seems that my wheels are too thin for the tire machine to do it's thing.  Imagine that, something of mine is too thin,  usually stuff is too fat to fit.  He improvised with a hunk of wood and got the bead breaker to work.  Then he had to get the tire off oldskool style.  Even my fatter rear wheel was to thin so it got the same treatment.  Thanks Mr. Double J!





I'm used to automotive rims and I can't get over how tiny these things are.


A little masking tape, some tough duty enamel paint and voila.


I like it.

While I was shooting black around I painted the headlamp bucket and the stator cover with the same stuff. 


Now for the rear fender.  I have some holes from where the monstrosity of a tail lamp was.  I'll just plug those op with my secret weapon, J B WELD .  I love that sh!t, I put that stuff on everything.

Don't worry, a little sanding and primer and you won't know it's there.  Well you'll know 'cause I just told you, but no one else will know unless you tell them.  Seriously, don't tell them.   Really.

Signals on frame

The center stand and the headlight bucket are getting ready for a coat of black. 





I got some inexpensive bar end mirrors from GP Cycle,  These will go on last otherwise the bike won't fit out the front door.  I also bought some stuff at the local big box hardware store.  I plan on running some of the wires through the copper tubing.  Those copper bracket thingies looked cool so I scooped some of them.  I don't know what I'll do with them but I'll figure something out.



The seat latching system was now interfering with the mounting of the rear fender so I cut some out to allow the latches to come through the fender. 



Now comes the time to put on the signal housings.  I think I'm getting better at this welding thing. 




A quick test fit of the fender and it's a tight fit.  That's good, if it comes undone on the road I won't loose it, it will just scare the crap out of me. 



That looks pretty darn good.

Know what else looks good?  My welding helmet painted copper.  OH yeah baby.
